Subject: Awards and Recognition Committee and Treasurer's Reports



  John Twitchell is the new Awards and Recognition Committee(ARC)

Chair, but I agreed to coordinate the awards process through the

evaluation of the nominees.

  We had an excellent response to our call for nominations for the

Region 3 awards: Outstanding Engineer(4); Outstanding Service(6); and

Outstanding Engineering Educator(5). All of these candidates are

exemplary examples of the high quality of the professionals we have

in Region 3. The nominations related to the Professional Leadership

Award will be submitted by the Professional Activities Awards

Subcommittee.

  Special congratulations to the Alabama Section Gold Committee for

winning the RAB Outstanding Gold Program Award for 1997. An honor

well deserved!!

  The only negative note to my report is that NO Sections have

submitted nomination packages to be named as Exemplary Sections.

It is not to late to submit these nominations. Please encourage

your Sections to apply.
