Region 3 Student Activities Chair
The Call for Papers for the 1998 IEEE Region 3 Professional
Issues Student Paper Contest has been sent to all student branches
in the Region via e-mail and will be included in the Student
Activities Newsletter to be mailed shortly. Each paper entry
should be sent to the Regional Student Activities Chair by
February 28, 1998. The winner will be notified by March 15, 1998.
We plan to invite the Region 3 winner to Southeastcon '98 and
present him/her with a certificate at the Conference Awards
Luncheon. The six Regional winners will present their papers at
the 1998 PACE Conference and Workshop to be held September 4-7,
1998 at the Pointe Hilton Resort at Squaw Peak in Phoenix,
Arizona. The paper judged most outstanding will be recognized
with an award of $200 while the runner-up will receive $100.
The IEEE Student Activities Committee (SAC) plans to
conduct the IEEE World Wide Student Branch Website Contest during
1998. This contest has been in the planning stages for some time
but the go-ahead came only recently. Each region will conduct a
Student Branch Website Contest and the top three regional entries
will be submitted to a SAC Judging panel. These thirty entries
will be judged and receive the following awards: 5 Gold Award
Winners at $200 each, 10 Silver Award Winners at $100 each, and
15 Bronze Award Winners at $50 each. The judging criteria and
associated scoring weights are content, links/e-mail addresses,
originality, ALT tags, graphics, appeal, and load time.
