To: Region 3 Executive Committee, Region 3 Sections From: Lee Stogner, Region 3 Membership Development Chair Subject: Year End Report - Region 3 Membership Development Report First some statistics, since the Mid Year R3 Membership Report, our membership includes the following major categories, Life Fellow 268 --> 268 Fellow 254 --> 254 Life Senior 1568 --> 1566 Senior 1596 --> 1567 Life 2329 --> 2231 Member 16288 --> 17553 Associate 2666 --> 3203 Student 5321 --> 4311 This gives us a grand total of 30,663 members of all types. We actually have a gain of 598 members from this time last year. This works out to a total gain of 1.95 %. So bottom line, yes we grew, but we also lost a number of good people for various reasons. Every organization gets its strength through a growing base of people. The IEEE is no different. To improve our membership situation, the IEEE is continuing to improve its value message and sponsor a number of programs that appeal to potential new members. The IEEE is also promoting the advancement of current members up through the various member ranks. Here in Region 3, October is the month in which we launch our Fall Membership Renewal campaign. Please take the time at your next Section Meeting and through your Section Newsletter to remind Members that renewal is necessary for sustaining our resources in Region 3. We also need to expand our Membership Development team in Region 3. Every Section is encouraged to identify a local Membership Development Resource that has the time and the passion to help grow their own member base. These names will be included in a growing distribution list that will provide an ongoing stream of ideas and resources for a successful membership development program. Any names that are recommended should be sent to, l.stogner@ieee.org If you would like to learn more about Membership Development, please go to the IEEE web site at, https://www.ieee.org/organizations/rab/md/index.html Let's continue to build our base this year and position Region 3 for ongoing growth that will make us the Engineering Network in the Southeast.
