ÊIEEE Virginia Council Report to Region 3 Excomm March 22, 2004 Officers of the Virginia Council are unchanged since last year, since each serves a two-year term. They are: Chair David Geer (d.geer@ieee.org) * Vice Chair Adeeb Hamzey (a.hamzey@ieee.org) * Secretary Bill Clayton (w.clayton@ieee.org) * Treasurer Bill Clayton (acting) * Past Chair Sean Haynes (s.a.haynes@ieee.org) Virginia Section Chairs for 2004 are: * Central Virginia Chair Carlos Whaley (carlos.whaley@ieee.org) * Hampton Roads Chair William Edmonson (wedmonson@ieee.org) * Richmond Vice Chair Andrew Shulick (apshulick@ieee.org) * Virginia Mountain Chair Shawn Addington (AddingtonJS@mail.vmi.edu) * Northern Virginia Chair Amarjeet Basra (amarjeet.basra@fairfaxcounty.gov) The Council meets four times per year. Spring and Fall meetings are face-to-face. Summer and Winter meetings are by e-conference. The agenda for the Spring 2004 Council meeting at Southeastcon can be found at the Council web site, https://www.ewh.ieee.org/r3/vc/. At least four Sections will be represented at Southeastcon this year. The Council conducted a successful Leadership Training session at the Innsbrook Center in Richmond, hosted by Adeeb Hamzey and lead by Charles Lord. A total of twelve Section officers attended, representing three of the four Virginia Sections. Current concerns are: 1. Clarification of bylaws for determining a quorum, and defining funding sources 2. Filling open officer slots for Treasurer, Awards, and GOLD Chairs 3. Continuing to increase awareness and usage of the Electricity Demonstrator. The Council is still considering sponsoring a future Southeastcon, but plans are stalled until a suitable university partner can be found. Respectfully Submitted, Dave Geer David H. Geer, P.E.
