Congratulations to Memphis Light, Gas & Water Division for being
selected as the winner of the 2003 IEEE Region 3 Employer Professional
Development Award.  This award was judged by members of the Region 3
Educational Activities Committee.  The purpose of this award is to
recognize organizations in Region 3 which employ IEEE members for
outstanding contributions by the organization to employee continuing
education and professional development as evidenced by their quality,
comprehensiveness, innovation, or impact.  The presentation of the
2003 IEEE Region 3 Employer Professional Development Award will be
made at the SoutheastCon 2004 Awards Luncheon on Sunday, March 28 in
Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Region 3 Educational Activities Committee will hold a meeting at
SoutheastCon 2004 on Saturday, March 27 from 11:00am-12:00n in the
Blue Ridge Room.  Also, Doug Gorham (IEEE Educational Activities) and
Ralph Painter (Florida West Coast Section) will conduct a workshop
entitled "Connecting Engineers with the Pre-college Community" at
Southeastcon 2004.  This workshop will be presented twice (also in the
Blue Ridge Room on Saturday, March 27) from 8:45-9:45am and
10:00-11:00am.

We are continuing to solicit participation by the Region 3 Sections on
the Region 3 Educational Activities Committee.  If you are the
Educational Activities Chair for your Section, or just a Section
member who is interested in Educational Activities, we would invite
you to join our committee.  All we need is a recommendation from your
Section Chair.  The Region 3 Educational Activities Committee would
like to welcome former Region 3 Director Dave Conner (Alabama Section)
as the new mentor for our Committee.
