The section cosponsored a very successful conference on Nanoscale devices and System Integration with more than 110 presenters from around the world and 150 attending. There were 19 sessions and several exhibitors. The section loan was returned in full and it is expected that the section will also gain some surplus amount after all bills are paid. The section also continued its sponsorship and participation in running the Florida regional competition of the National Engineers Week Future City Competition. This year we had 45 schools from around the state participating. The regional competition was held January 17th, 2004 with more than 400 students, teachers, engineers, volunteers and parents participating in a very nice atmosphere. The regional winner was "Westminster Academy" who represented the State in Washington, DC in the National Finals. The section and its society chapters already conducted 6 technical meetings so far this year since January 1, 2004. Several others meetings are planned before the summer slow activity period. The FIU students branch is participating at Southeast Conference in Greensboro, NC with more than 12 students in the hardware competition, paper and software competition. They had several activities so far this year and they will continue to be active in the coming period. The section will continue is very active status and will participate in many activities that will benefit it members and well as enhance our interaction with the community. We will also continue to seek organizing conferences that will benefit our members and our profession. I will not be able to attend the Region 3 meetings this year due to overseas travel but our section Vice Chair Dr. Shuo Liu will represent our section at the Florida Council meeting and the Region 3 meetings. Dr. K. Yen will also attend the meetings Respectfully Submitted; Osama Mohammed Miami Section Chair March 14, 2003 __________________________________________ Professor O. A.
