Region 3,

The Region 3 Employment Assistance Project was initiated to determine the impact of current
economics to Region 3 members and to devise a series of activities that will provide career
support. To date, these activities have included,

  - Build the Employment Assistance Team (Lee Stogner, George McClure, Carl Hussey)  - Done

  - Work with the IEEE Career Services Committee to gather information on IEEE / IEEE-USA
    employment assistance support resources - Done

  - Research the current employment situation across Region 3  -  Done

The conclusion is that there has been significant impact to the careers of Region 3 members
as companies have lost work, downsized or in some cases ended operations. The Employment
Assistance team will now develop a series of activities that can be implemented and directly
benefit Region 3 members. These activities will include,

  - Update and expand the Region 3 Employment Assistance web site

  - Create an employment resource in every Region 3 Section

  - Encourage every Region 3 member to "discover" employment opportunities within their own
    companies and forward to their local Section employment resource

  - Communicate to every Region 3 member the full range of IEEE and Region 3 Employment
    Assistance benefits

  - Deliver Region 3 Employment Assistance training via special web cast and Fall Region 3
    meeting

  - Integrate Region 3 Employment Assistance activities with the IEEE and IEEE-USA
