Happy new year!

I look forward to a good year under Director Stogner's leadership.

In addition to serving as Director-Elect, I am also serving as IEEE Secretary
(and thus an IEEE Director) this year so I expect that it will be both busy and
fulfilling. I look forward to working with the rest of the Region 3 team to
refine how the Region supports the Sections to serve as well as engage the
member.

I would like to visit several of the Area/Councils this year (and others next
year) in coordination with Director Stogner's own travel and plans. I think it is
important that these contacts occur. I would like to maximize the value of my
visits so it would be good to be able to both visit with Council members as well
as attend one of the section meetings at the same time if that is possible. For
areas without councils, I would suggest that we meet and together attend one of
the section meetings. If you are interested and/or have other ideas on how this
would be useful -- please let me know.

I would recommend that all ExCom members, especially new members, review the
Region 3 Operations Manual so as to understand your duties and responsibilities
that are in addition the strategic and operations goals for 2010.

Goals for 2010:
 * Finish migration of duties accumulated while Region 3 Secretary to
   the new secretary or others as appropriate
 * Visit at least four Area/Councils
 * Actively participate on Region 3 Committee, the ExCom, and Region 3
   Committees as appropriate and required
 * In support of and in coordination with Director Stogner and the 2010 Region 3
   Goals and Objectives, enable and encourage Region 3 committees to be
   effective in fulfilling their charter.

As an action report for 2010 thus far, I have

 * Participated in the IEEE Board Retreat, Board meeting, and MGA
   Retreat in Miami
 * Participated in the Region 3 Communications Committee electronic meeting
 * Assisted Secretary Vaughn in start up activities
 * Worked to migrate mailing list ownership to content owners and/or
   Communications Chair Clayton
 * Assisted Director Stogner as requested
