Frank Corbett (EIC Fellow) remained close to his EIC roots in Quebec and helped establish the Canadian Society for Senior Engineers in Quebec with a CSSE Montreal Chapter, and has been named the CSSE Director for Quebec. Francois a attiré des ingénieurs seniors francophones d’expérience au sein de la CSSE et a joué un rôle important dans la participation bilingue. Nous sommes fiers de rendre hommage, ce soir, à cet ingénieur dévoué.

Abdulmotaleb El Saddik (EIC Fellow) est professeur et titulaire d’une chaire de recherche à l’Université d’Ottawa. Results of Dr. El Saddik’s intensive research have been published in prestigious international journals and conference proceedings, and his exceptional contributions have been recognized with numerous awards. In addition, he is a highly regarded member of the international scientific community.

Liping Fang (EIC Fellow) is Professor and Chair of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Ryerson University where he has made significant contributions to the development of graduate and undergraduate programs. His research contributions are in systems and industrial engineering, particularly in multiple participant-multiple objective decision making.

Andrew Goldenberg (EIC Fellow) is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto, and had previously worked on the first Space Shuttle Remote Manipulator System – the CANADARM at SPAR Aerospace Ltd in Toronto. He is the founder and President of Engineering Services Inc. and is President of Anviv Mechatronics Inc., two companies that provide state-of-the-art robotics and mechatronics technology.

Wenyuan Li (EIC Fellow) is a principal engineer with the British Columbia Transmission Corporation and is well recognized for his exceptional contributions to power engineering. He was elected a Fellow of IEEE in 2002 for his contributions in power system reliability. In addition to his impressive academic achievements as an author or co-author of books, over 110 refereed journal and conference papers and more than 70 technical reports, he has excelled in the industrial application of probability and reliability theory.

Konstantinos Plataniotis (EIC Fellow) is a Professor with the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto. He is an international authority in the field of image processing, biometrics and adaptive learning. Konstantinos has contributed significantly in these areas with technical publications and has co-authored a monograph on color image processing that has greatly influenced research in this area.

Bob Alden (EIC Sterling Medal) retired from McMaster University in 2001 as Professor Emeritus. Bob is being recognized for his concept, planning and implementation of a strategy that culminated in creating IEEE Canada as a Member Society of the EIC while retaining its relationship within IEEE as Region 7; and for continuing with the development of IEEE Canada by implementing major improvements to its website, a major awards program and integration with the IEEE Canadian Foundation.

Om Malik (IEEE Canada President) has been doing volunteer work for IEEE for over 35 years at the Section, Council, Region and IEEE corporate level for over 35 years. University of Calgary Professor Om P. Malik has done pioneering work in the development of adaptive and artificial intelligence based controllers for application in electric power systems over the past thirty years. After extensive testing in the laboratory and in actual power systems, these controllers are now employed on large generating units.
