Frank Cyprian Creed, B.Sc., Ph.D. - 83, Mahone Bay, died peacefully in
South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, on June 4, 2004, with his loving
wife of 44 years by his side. He was born April 3, 1921, in Windsor, Ont. to
Ernest Alfred and Marjorie (Shepherd) Creed. He received his B.Sc. from
Queen's University in 1945 and his Ph.D. from the University of London
(England) in 1952.
He joined NRC in 1945 and retired as Principal Research
Officer in 1979. His field of expertise led him to an active role on various
international committees and he served as Director of Region 7 (Canada) of
the IEEE. His book "The Generation and Measurement of High Voltage Impulses"
sets forth his years of research and study. As a young man, he enjoyed
fishing, tennis, golf, and was involved backstage at the Ottawa Little
Theatre. He was a member of Chester Golf Club. On retirement he moved to
Nova Scotia, first to Fox Point and later to Mahone Bay where he resided
until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Beth" (Case);
brother, Jack, Amherstburg, Ont.; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by
his youngest brother, Fred. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahone
Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in
Calvary Temple, Mahone Bay, Rev. James Haughn officiating. His ashes will be
interred at a later date in the Case family lot in Swan Point Cemetery,
Providence, R.I. No flowers please. Memorial donations may be made to
Queen's University, Kingston, Ont. or a charity of choice.
