1. The IEEE student branch of Vishwakarma Institute of Technology organized a general body meeting with the Students of S.E. Elex/Entc on 1st August 2008, welcoming them to the Electronics Engineering department. 2. An Informal trek was organized on 3rd August, to Lohagad fort to enhance interaction between students of different years. Active participation was taken by the Students from all the ‘four years’ of engineering. 3. As a tradition, which has been following for many years now, the IEEE Student branch of Vishwakarma Institute of Technology holds a ‘Social Initiative’ event on 15th August, the Independence day, for betterment of the society. This year, donations were collected from the students from all the departments of our college, and various commodities and Fast moving goods were bought and donated to the residents of ‘Even-Tide Home’ an old age home. 4. The first Technical visit of the Academic year was held on 30th August. A technical visit was organized to Tata Power hydroelectric power plant located at Khopoli. A batch of 40 students accompanied by 2 faculty members went for the visit. 5. A lecture on ‘How to write and present a Technical Paper’ was organized on 23rd September. The lecture was conducted by Prof. PM Patil, Prof. DV Jadhav and by Prof. JV Kulkarni. The lecture was a grand success. A participation of around 150 students from various years and departments was observed. 6. A non-technical quiz was organized on 26th September. Active participation from the students of FE, SE ,TE was observed. 7. Tata Consultancy Services had organized a workshop on Software Assurance and testing on 29th September. The lecture was undertaken by various leading professional of the field. IEEE Student Members from 4 colleges in Pune were invited from the workshop. 15 students represented our college in the workshop. 8. A seminar on ‘Introduction to MATLAB’ was organized on 4th October. The Seminar was conducted by Prof. MV Kamble and Prof. VD Gaikwad. Over 60 students attended the seminar and each attendee was given a 40 page booklet on MATLAB. 9. A technical visit to GMRT was organized on 19th October. A total batch of 40 students had participated. 10. The Membership Drive had come to an end with 81 new registrations done, with addition to the previous year’s 70 members. The IEEE has also tied up with Microsoft’s MSDNAA , all the members were given original software with registered keys in their name of over 50 Developing software including Operating systems such as Windows Vista Business and XP Professional. 11. The second Semester began with ‘Peer to Peer’, an intra-college technical paper presentation competition on 17th January 2009,. The various participants were analyzed and were also given tips for future participation in inter-college technical events. 12. A technical lecture on ‘Reliability of Electronic systems’ was organized on 6th February by Dr.Alok Ghosh, a scientist at DRDO. Students from SE, Electronics and EnTC attended the lecture. 13. A lecture on microcontroller was organized on 16th February, by Prof. Bhatlawande. Students from FE and SE attended the lecture. The students were given key insights on the working of microcontroller and the various applications that are and can be achieved. 14. The IEEE Student Branch organized 6 events in Vitality ’09,a national level technical event. The various events which were organized were: a. Circuit Eye - circuit debugging competition b. League of Machines – autonomous robot race c. Micromind – microcontroller programming competition d. Projex – project exhibition and competition e. dot M – MATLAB programming competition f. Technical Sudoku |
