SPC2008 Prize ceremony

The Student Paper Contest is an event organized annually by the IEEE Tokyo Tech Student Branch. The contest is organized to encourage both undergraduate and postgraduate students of Tokyo Institute of Technology to write technical papers in English. The contents of the papers submitted have to be on engineering subjects in the field of interest of the IEEE and the papers have to be original and have not been published in any journal or conference proceeding.

The contest is organized to encourage both undergraduate and postgraduate students of Tokyo Institute of Technology to write technical papers in English. The contents of the papers submitted have to be on engineering subjects in the field of interest of the IEEE and the papers have to be original and have not been published in any journal or conference proceeding.
The call for papers is generally announced a month before the submission dateline. The announcement is made through the IEEE Tokyo Tech Student Branch website, posters and e-mails to the IEEE student members of the university and other engineering students via their respective laboratories. Approximately two months are required for the reviewing process.
Last year, the call for papers for Student Paper Contest 2008 was announced in November. The technical committee for the contest was lead by our student branch Vice-chair, Ms. Nadia Tan, and the reviewing committee was chaired by our student branch advisor, Prof. Akinori Nishihara. A total of 18 technical papers were received and reviewed.
The Student Paper Contest 2008 prize giving ceremony was held in January 30th, 2009 at the S222 lecture room. The top three winners received certificates and prize money of ¥15000 (1st prize), ¥10000(2nd prize) and ¥5000 (3rd prize). The top three winners are:
1st Prize Winner: Mr. Patanukhom KARN
Paper Title: Restoration of Degraded Imaged Caused by Linear Motion Burred Objects in Still Background
2nd Prize Winner: Mr. Benjamin Pruvost
Paper Title: Suspended-Gate Single-Electron Transistor: Low Voltage, High-Speed Operation and Proposal of New Architectures Insensitive to Background Charges
3rd Prize Winner: Mr. Tuan Minh Vo
Paper Title: Asynchronous Differential Capacitive-to-Digital Converter for Capacitive Sensors
Other participants who did not make the top three places receive a ¥1000 book voucher each. After the prize giving ceremony, a pizza party was held at the “Den Den Cafe” in South 2 building.
