Summer Internship Program at Global Foundries, Dresden (Germany) |
Ten Al Nokhba (The Elite) students from ADMC among the 60 male and female students from the various institutions across the UAE crossed the Persian Gulf to Dresden, Germany on an intensive 7 weeks internship program at the Global Foundries (GF) on 19th June 2010. This internship program was specially designed to provide national students with work experience in high tech semiconductor manufacturing industry at the GF as a stepping stone prior to starting a new fabrication unit at Abu Dhabi in the coming years. The 60 interns were accompanied by 3 male and 3 female supervisors, Abbas Ali from ADMC among others. All the students went through the various stages of the semiconductor manufacturing processes in the ‘clean room’ supported by theory sessions conducted by highly professional engineers and professors from the Dresden Chip Academy and the Dresden University. Students were taken on many field trips and excursions in Dresden, Berlin and Prague. All the students were highly motivated and thoroughly enjoyed this great opportunity and felt proud to be the chosen ones among the 1200 students that had applied through ADEC/ATIC. Starting next year, students will have the opportunity to pursue the same internship program in either Germany or Singapore. It will expand later on to include New York (USA).
