Since its establishment in 1984, Institute of Engineering and Technology, lucknow has continually strived to provide quality technical education to the budding engineers. It has had a prominent role in nurturing technocrats of the future. The inauguration of the IEEE Students Chapter on 11th February 2003 was not just a small step but a giant leap towards achieving the goal of fostering technical innovation amongst the students of the institute.

A petition was forwarded to the IEEE in this regard with Ms Pallawi Gupta as the Chairperson of the interim branch. On 4th September 2004 the names of the office bearers of the chapter for the year 2003-04 were approved in the General Body Meeting. The new committee carried forward the work done by their predecessors successfully and the branch was registered with the IEEE in January 2004 with the branch code 2562961.

The primary goal of the students' chapter is to create awareness with regard to the latest trends in the field of technological innovation. The association with a global engineers' body like the IEEE shall open up new unexplored horizons to the budding engineers. It shall enhance their technical perspective by allowing access to the innumerable benefits that can be availed through the student membership of IEEE. These benefits include access to a multitude of research papers, journals and magazines related to various technical fields like computer science, electrical and electronics engineering, biotechnology, information technology, aerospace, etc. In addition, IEEE provides the students a sterling opportunity to network with peers and professionals worldwide. The student members can also avail discounts on various titles on a variety of topics.
