Location:
South Padre Island is a laid-back beach resort town (pop. 1800)
at the Southernmost tip of 110 mile long Padre Island. Besides
from relaxing on the beach or swimming in the warm clear Gulf
waters, there is deep sea/pier/beach fishing, sail rentals, jet/water
skiing, bicycling, jeep rentals, horseback riding along the sand
dunes and golfing nearby.
Several museums and a wildlife refuge are also in the area. One
may also visit the colorful stalls and shops of Matamoras, Mexico
which is located 30 minutes away by car. South Padre Island is
conveniently reached from Harlingen/Brownsville Airport by many
major Airlines. Rental car, bus or taxi transportation from airport
takes approximately. 30 minutes. A free causeway connects South
Padre Island to the mainland.
