The 2004 Student EMC Design Competition is underway, and the winner will be announced at the 2004 IEEE International Symposium on EMC in Santa Clara, California, August 9-13.

The 2004 Student EMC Design Competition is the 5th annual student competition sponsored by the IEEE EMCS, and is conducted by the Education and Student Activities Committee (ESAC). The goal of this competition is to provide Engineering/Physics students who are interested in the field of EMC with an opportunity to apply their knowledge, and to gain hands-on experience.

The winning entry is awarded $900 US in cash, and one team member receives an expense-paid trip to attend the 2004 IEEE International Symposium on EMC in Santa Clara, California. This includes a free pass to all technical sessions and exhibits and a special recognition during the Awards Luncheon! The most important reward for the participants is the experience of applying their EMC design knowledge to a real-life problem.

If you are interested in entering into this competition, please contact Ahmad M. Fallah via email at ahmadfallah@ieee.org, and have your professor request a design kit and a copy of the competition rules by January 31, 2004. Then, apply your knowledge of the EMC design principles and submit your design entry and a detailed report on how you arrived at your solutions. If you are the winner of the competition, you will attend the 2004 IEEE International Symposium on EMC, and will present the results of your efforts in a poster session. And, of course, you can then collect the $900 US cash award!

The trip to the EMC Symposium is just part of the competition, the learning experience lasts a lifetime. EMC
