Year 2007 EMC Society Pre-audit Financial Summary

IEEE’s 2007 pre-audit financial report indicates that the EMC Society’s 2007 operations yielded a net deficit of $86,900. The major factor contributing to that deficit was the cost of the 2007 Symposium/50th Anniversary Celebration. The Society’s 12 year financial history is reflected in the surplus/deficit bar graph below.
The EMC Society’s 2007 gross revenue was $1,591,100. Of that total, Periodical subscriptions and author charges income was $364,000; Newsletter ads provided $89,300; Conference gross income was $1,053,200; revenue from Member fees was $84,500 and Market Fluctuation was a positive $75,500. The 2007 income pie chart below reflects the percentage, of the total, for each revenue category. The EMC Society’s 2007 expenses were $1,678,000. Of that total, Periodical production and distribution costs were $142,300; the Newsletter cost $168,100 to print and distribute; Conference expenses were $927,100; Society committee expenses were $260,200; and, IEEE administrative/infrastructure support costs were $252,500.
