One of the main charters of the Standards Advisory
and Coordination Committee (SACCom) is to provide technical liaison
between the IEEE EMC Society Standards Committee and various non-IEEE
entities involved with EMC Society standards activities. Individuals
who participate in this committee are technically qualified individuals
who are generally members of the IEEE EMC Society and who have
demonstrated technical competence and interest in the activities
(or also are members) of a particular non-IEEE EMC Society standards
organization. Presently, the committee has representatives from
a wide range of EMC disciplines, geographical locations, industries,
and fields of work.
Examples include:
• CISPR (International Special Committee on Radio Interference)
• MIL (military, primarily the US military)
• RTCA (Radio Technical Committee on Aeronautics)
• SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers)
• IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission)
• ISO (International Organization for Standards)
• Aerospace
• Others
The contribution from the various representatives is summarized
in a quarterly report and distributed to all interested individuals
who would like to know the latest progress on the standards working
groups. The reports and list of representatives are also posted
in the SACCom website: https://grouper.ieee.org/groups/emc/emc/ieee_emcs_-_saccom_mainpage.html
The committee is presently eager to recruit representatives from
the following organizations:
• ANSI ASC C63®
• ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute)
• CENELEC (European Electrotechnical Committee)
• ESDA (Electrostatic Discharge Association)
The committee is also open to representatives from other EMC standards
committee working groups not mentioned here that would be interested
in extending the “cross-pollination” efforts of this
unique, but extensive group. If you are interested, please e-mail
the SACCom Chair, David Guzman at dguzman@rftek.net
for further information. EMC
