The Chicago Chapter of the EMC Society is starting
a scholarship program using the funds the local Chapter received
as its portion of the surplus from the 2005 IEEE International
Symposium on EMC. The Chapter will also add additional money to
the scholarship fund from its surplus from recent annual local
mini-symposia. The interest earned on the endowment will provide
the annual scholarship. The Chapter is also considering approaching
local Chicago industry to provide additional funding for the endowment.
To fairly administer the scholarship program, the Chapter wishes
to establish criteria that will be used by the selection committee,
including determining the makeup of the selection committee. The
Chapter has been in touch with the Santa Clara EMC Chapter that
has given out scholarships in the past, before their program evolved
into the IEEE EMC Society University Grant Award.
The Chicago Chapter would like to hear from any other EMC Chapters
that may have had, or still have, a scholarship program to learn
what works and what doesn’t work.
If you have any scholarship information to share with the Chicago
Chapter, please contact H. R. (Bob) Hofmann: hrhofmann@att.net.
Thank you!
