IEEE’s 2005 pre-audit financial report
indicates that EMC’s 2005 operations yielded a net surplus
of $158,500. The major factors contributing to that surplus were
the investment return and the 2005 Conference surplus. The Society’s
11 year financial history is reflected in the surplus/deficit
bar graph below.
EMC’s 2005 gross revenue was $1,404,200. Of that total,
Periodical subscriptions and author charges income was $326,000;
Newsletter ads provided $65,000; Conference gross income was $919,000;
revenue from Member fees was $86,000 and Market Fluctuation was
a positive $85,000. The 2005 income pie chart below reflects the
percentage, of the total, for each revenue category. The Society’s
2005 expenses were $1,245,700. Of that total, Periodical production
and distribution costs were $159,000; the Newsletter cost $121,100
to print and distribute; Conference expenses were $684,000; Society
committee expenses were $170,000; and, IEEE administrative/infrastructure
support costs were $195,000. The 2005 expense pie chart below
