2007 STUDENT EMC DESIGN COMPETITION
“APPLY YOUR EMC DESIGN KNOWLEDGE TO A REAL-LIFE PROBLEM”

The 2007 Student Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Design Competition has officially started and the winner will be announced at the 2007 IEEE International Symposium on EMC in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The 2007 Student EMC Design Competition is the 7th annual student competition sponsored by the IEEE-EMCS, and is conducted by the Education and Student Activities Committee (ESAC). The goal of this competition is to provide engineering students who are interested in the field of EMC an opportunity to apply their knowledge and gain hands-on experience.
The winning entry is awarded $900 USD in cash, and one team member will receive an expense-paid trip to attend the 2007 IEEE International Symposium on EMC, held in Honolulu, Hawaii from July 8-13. This includes a free pass to all technical sessions and exhibits and a special recognition during the Awards Luncheon! The most important reward for the participants is the experience of applying their EMC design knowledge to a real-life problem.
If you are interested in participating in the 2007 competition, please have your faculty sponsor contact Ahmad Fallah via email at ahmadfallah@ieee.org, and request a design kit and a copy of the competition rules. To ensure prompt arrival of your kit, please make sure the faculty sponsor’s mailing address is included in the request. Then, apply your knowledge of the EMC design principles and submit your design entry and a detailed report on how you arrived at your solutions. Completed kits must be returned by April 1, 2007 (since this year’s symposium is in July) to ensure that you will be notified well in advance, so you can attend the 2007 IEEE International Symposium on EMC and present the results of your efforts in a poster session. And, of course, you can then collect the $900 cash award!
The Trip to the EMC Symposium is just part of the competition, the learning experience lasts a lifetime. For more details about the competition (including the contest rules and circuit description) please visit the website: https://www.ewh.ieee.org/soc/emcs/edu/student-design-comp.htm. EMC
