Change of Leadership in Washington,
DC - Change of Leadership in
IEEE EMC Society Conferences

Well, they’re not quite of the same magnitude, but both leadership transitions were accomplished peacefully. I am honored to be the new Vice President for Conferences for the IEEE EMC Society. Conferences are an important tool for sharing the latest developments in the area of electromagnetic compatibility. My goal as Vice President is to take what we have and improve on it. If you are interested in helping, we have some openings in the team. Who knows, we might even re-organize the team to make better use of your talents. Are you up to the challenge?
In addition to the annual IEEE International Symposium on EMC, we provide technical co-sponsorship for various other events around the world. Frank Sabath is our Global Symposium Coordinator and works with other symposia in this area. We do ask for sufficient advance notice to handle our processes prior to granting technical co-sponsorship, so please don’t wait until you’ve distributed your call for papers.
The Society is still in the process of selecting a venue for the 2013 IEEE International Symposium on EMC. The Symposium is our premiere event for sharing information on EMC, meeting old friends and making new ones. If you are a Chapter member and would like to have your Chapter host the 2013 (or later) symposium, please feel free to contact Darryl Ray at Darryl.Ray@covidien.com or me. Darryl heads our symposium site selection committee and we would love to hear from you. Past years have seen this symposium in Japan and Turkey, as well as a number of cities around the U.S. Where should we go next? You help us decide.
If you have ideas for how we might improve our support of conferences, or wish to volunteer to help, please feel free to contact me at g.pettit@ieee.org. Remember, this is your Society and we need your ideas and help to make it work. EMC
