How to reach the hotel

Giardini Naxos is a well-famous seaside resort on the landward side of the lungomare, a long road running alongside the shore from Capo Schiṣ north-west to Taormina.
Naxos was the first Greek colony in Sicily, founded in 735 B.C. by Chalcidians of Euboea. Situated below Taormina, with his lovely bay, a splendid sea, in a flat coastal position, Naxos is archeologically one of the very few remaining chances to study the most ancient aspects of Greek urbanistics.

From the 18th C. onwards the village of citrus farmers and fishermen lived simply in this "village of gardens", that's where the name Giardini (Gardens) comes from.
For a long time, the "garden town" merely served as a sheltered anchorage for nearby Taormina. The epithet originates from the cotton and sugar-cane plantations which, through the centuries, were replaced by citrus orchards. This for a longtime provided the best source of income until, in the 1950s, the place developed into an important holiday resort, thanks partly to the attraction of nearby Taormina, which provides a splendid backdrop.

Arrival by airplane

The International Airport of Catania is the most convenient (www.aeroporto.catania.it); Catania can be reached by no-stop flights from many european cities or via the main italian Hub in Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa, each one in connection with Catania with many daily flights.

From the Catania airport there is a convenient connection with Giardini Naxos via public coach service managed by Etna Trasporti (see the Etna Trasporti web site for time table)

The Catania airport is connected with Catania railway station by "ALIBUS". ALIBUS is a public bus connecting the Airport with the railway station every 20 minutes, from 5.00 am to midnight, about 90 minutes run.
