GPS, The System, Its Uses in Our
Lives, and Its Application to Telecommunications .
Presented By
George Shaton
ABSTRACT: We have heard about this system called GPS (Global Positioning
System) that the US government has placed in space. It touches almost
every aspect of modern life.
What is it? How does it work? How does it impact what I do today?
Why is
the telecommunication industry so dependent on this system? The answers to
these and other questions will be answered in this talk.
The speaker will present an overview of the GPS system and its impact on
our professional and every day lives. One of the major commercial uses of
the GPS system today is by the telecommunication industry. As electronic
and electrical engineers, we use the signals from this system in many ways
to design and integrate GPS signals into our communications systems.
