Dear All,

Thank you very much for your participation in the 2007 NSS/MIC which was held during October 27 - November 3, 2007 in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. It was a roaring success! With a record number of over 1,500 submitted abstracts from 40 countries and 1,750 participants, it was the largest NSS/MIC ever held in the USA. The goal of the conference was to promote participants from Asian-Pacific countries; this goal was well met with 21% of the abstracts coming from these countries.

Beautiful Hawaii, the exceptionally appointed hotel, the responsive hotel staff, and the cooperating weather were important contributing factors to the success of the conference. We are particularly grateful to members of our organizing committee for their dedication and hard work during the preparation and execution of the conference. Most importantly the success of the conference was due to your efforts to bring the scientific levels of nuclear science and medical imaging and the quality of the presentations to new heights.

Asides from the regular NSS and MIC scientific and short course programs and the joint NSS/MIC programs, the conference included two workshops on 'New Developments in the Micro-Pattern Gaseous Detectors' and on 'Innovative Techniques for Hadrontherapy, a special session on 'Technology Transfer', and a special Asian Pacific Program. Also, we implemented several changes and new innovations to the 2007 NSS/MIC. The NSS program was expanded to 5 days and the MIC program consisted of two parallel sessions to accommodate the large number of accepted presentations. A new refresher course program was initiated during the conference to provide short reviews of current research topics in both nuclear science and medical imaging. Your review and comments of these changes and new innovations are highly appreciated especially by the 2008 NSS/MIC organizing committee for their consideration to further improve the 2008 NSS/MIC that will be held in Dresden, Germany from October 19th through October 25th.
