Customer Communication and Control Systems for the Utilities

ABSTRACT

Deregulation is dramatically changing the landscape of the utility industry. The advent of competition necessitates new thinking on how utilities conduct their operations and interact with their customers. This presentation explores:

1. the role of communication systems in getting and keeping customers.

2. the technology and economics of improving the profitability of residential customers.

The speaker will also give an overview on their telemetering and distribution energy management features and technologies.

 

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

John Rossi is VP of Research and Applications Development at Comverge Technologies. Comverge designs energy-data communications solutions for utilities and energy services company. John has held his current position for the past two years. Prior to joining Comverge, John was with Lucent Technologies, Bell Laboratories for more than 20 years. His R&D work there centered on managing the development of signal processing, high-speed communication and utility communication applications. He has presented papers on Utility Communications issues at over 20 industry conferences over the past eight years. John holds BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Detroit.
