We have two great speakers for our October 8th PES presentation at 5:30 PM.
Mr. Harvey Morris (President of Metromedia Energy), and Mr. Richard Bucci
(Manager of Electric Power Systems at Raytheon) will present their respective
views on the future of the energy industry. Although the current media focus
seems to be on electricity, the ongoing deregulation and competitive markets
will impact all aspects of the industry . Each speaker will provide a 15-20
minutes summary presentation, followed by a 20-30 minutes of Q/A and open
discussion.
Mr. Harvey Morris has been in the industry through all its stages of deregulation, including the early days of PURPA; Harvey will present his perspective and his vision of the future and major fundamental changes in the structure of the industry. Being national and international in his scope of influence, Harvey will be able to contrast the progress (or lack of) being made in this region to open the retail "energy" markets. He also brings the vantage position of starting a company in the early days of PURPA and converting it into a major player in the wholesale and retail energy markets -- A good time to ask Harvey about the turmoil in the electricity markets this past June.
Mr. Richard Bucci also brings a long history of evolution in the industry, with a slant to the engineering and construction segment. He will gaze into the technology crystal-ball and provide us with his insight into what the future will bring in terms of technology, players, ownership arrangements, and the changing role that Raytheon anticipates to continue to succeed in the future. Some of the critical issues for the industry include dispersed generation, microturbines, merchant generation, ownership arrangements.
