INTEGRATION OF A LARGE FLUCTUATING LOAD IN A UTILITY SYSTEM

Ramasamy Natarajan (Raj), Senior Engineer
Raytheon E & C, Lyndhurst, New Jersey

ABSTRACT

In this presentation the characteristics of various types of arc furnaces, the measured time domain results of current, real power, reactive power, power factor and harmonics will be presented from practical systems. Further, a detailed approach to the flicker will be discussed. Mitigation approaches to reduce the voltage regulation, flicker and oscillations also will be discussed.
