Distributed Intelligent Sense, Control and Monitoring for Industry.

Bill Schantz, District Sales Manager, and
Glenn Dahl, Field Applications Engineer,
Echelon Corporation

ABSTRACT

Bill and Glenn will start with an overview of the technology. They will further focus on LonWorks® Network technology: what it is, what does it take to create a LonWorks Network and why LonWorks is the world leader in "Device Bus" networks for industrial automation.

They will describe many application's with focus on power generation and T&D within the utility and other industries, including sub-station monitoring and control, networked remote monitoring systems for transformers and generators, control systems for power co/generation, power quality/usage monitoring in industrial plants, and two way communication for premise control and data collection.

Review on the technology itself will include LonWorks protocol, how LonWorks supports open system, HMI software, interfacing with existing systems. Field programming, achieving formal standards recognition, LonMark Standards Association, and how LonWorks fits at every level of the enterprise I/O to CEO will be also discussed.
