Our Distinguished Lecturer is Joseph L. Koepfinger.  Joe is retired from Duquesne Light, but still very active in IEEE.  He is a standards expert, currently the US Technical Advisor to IEC TC 8.   Joe has spent years working in the areas of Surge Protection of Power Systems, Power System Relaying, customer interface, power plant auxiliaries, & Distributed Generation.

IEC Technical Committee 8 activities include preparing and coordinating the development of international standards with emphasis on overall system aspects of electricity supply systems, and acceptable balance between cost and quality for the users of electrical energy. Electricity supply system encompasses T&D networks and connected user installations with their network interfaces.
