JPL Tour

We are pleased to announce that the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) has arranged special tours of their facility for ICRA 2008 attendees. The tours are organized by the JPL Public Services Office and the JPL Mobility and Robotic Systems Section. A free shuttle bus will be available to transport ICRA 2008 attendees from the Pasadena Conference Center (site of ICRA 2008) to JPL.

JPL facilities to be visited include the spacecraft assembly facility, the Mars yard, and the space flight operations facility.

The tours will be at the following times:

Monday May 19, 2008 1-3pm (two groups of 40 each) and 3-5pm (one group of 40)

If you are interested in taking the tour you will need to have signed up in advance. Signup for the JPL tour is now closed. We received over 150 entries from ICRA attendees for this event. In addition to the originally planned tours (2 tours of 40 persons each), we have added a third tour in the 1-3 pm slot on May 19. We will thus be able to accomodate 120 people who signed up for this event. Dr. Gabriel Udomkesmalee at JPL will be contacting you soon to confirm your registration for the tour. The email will also inform you if further information is needed to process your clearance for the visit.

Since JPL is a secure facility, advance sign up is mandatory; no 'walk-ons' will be permitted. U.S. citizens must present a valid form of photo identification such as a driver's license, and foreign nationals must bring their passports at the time of the tour. For people on the 1-3 tour, please wait outside the conference center shortly before 12:30 since the bus will leave for JPL at 12:30 sharp. For people on the 3-5 tour, please wait outside the conference center shortly before 2:30 since the bus will leave for JPL at 2:30 sharp.

If you have questions, please email Dr. Gabriel Udomkesmalee at JPL.
