Degree of Disturbance Rejection Capability for Linear Marginally Stable Systems

There are several measures to determine the locations and types of actuators, and one of them is degree of disturbance rejection capability (DODR) which is a quantitative measure representing how controllable the system is under the presence of persistent disturbance. However, it is hard to obtain the steady-state solution of DODR if the system is marginally stable because of several problems such as singularity and intensiveness of computation to obtain the Gramians. In this paper, therefore, the way to apply DODR to marginally systems with simple calculation is proposed.

New Controller Design Method Based on the Data Conversion Method

For targeting a feedback system with an unknown plant (controlled object), there are several methods for controller designing. In order to reduce costs, conventional methods use a single set of experimental I/O data to design a controller. In this paper, we propose a new method for this purpose, which improves the conventional data conversion method and enables us to design a controller by giving an outline figure of the ideal output. We confirmed the effectiveness of new method by conducting simulation experiments.

Impulse Controllability and Impulse Elimination in Rectangular Descriptor Systems

In this paper, a decomposition of system matrices of linear time invariant rectangular descriptor systems is proposed. Using the decomposition, a technique is developed to check the impulse controllability for rectangular descriptor systems. Necessary and sufficient conditions are stated and proved to design a proportional plus derivative feedback such that the closed loop system is free of impulse. Examples are given to illustrate the presented theory.

A Time-Varying Control Method Based on Taylor Series Approximation

In this paper, a time-varying control method based on Taylor series approximation is proposed. By approximation, a time-varying system can be explicated as a polynomial function of the independent variable, and a time-varying control law can be derived. For a time-varying system, this control law guarantees the actual control result as similar as the promising one of a linear time-invariant control method, such as the proportional feedback scheduling or the gain scheduling. A benchmark control problem of stabilizing an inverted pendulum with an oscillating center of mass is used to illustrate.

Closed-Form Formulas for Continuous/Discrete-Time PIDA Controllers’ Parameters

This paper proposes the closed-form formulas used for finding the controllers’ parameters for both continuous-time and discrete-time PIDA (Proportional-Integral-Derivative-Acceleration) controllers. The derivations to formulate the formula are given in vector-matrix forms. The examples of usage the closed-form formulas for a third order plant are illustrated. Comparing with other previous research work, revealed that at the same performances, the using it is straightforward, simpler without iterative computation

Stability analysis of genetic regulatory networks with time-varying delay via new convex combination technique

Our initial motivation for this study is to attain new delay-dependent stability criteria for a class of GRNs with time-varying delay by estimating its derivative of Lyapunov-Krasovski (L-K) functional more tightly. The quadratic convex combination technique is employed which is distinct from the linear convex combination and inverse convex combination extensively utilized in recent literature. To the authors' best knowledge, it is the first time to investigate the stability for genetic networks with time-varying delay via this new nonlinear convex combination combined with the new functional.
