Dong-Yan HUANG received the B.Sc. degree in control & information engineering department and M.Sc degree in electrical engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an, China, in 1985 and 1988, respectively and the Ph.D. degree in signal processing from Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers Paris (CNAM), Paris, France, in 1996.

In December 1996, she began a postdoctoral research work on low delay high quality audio and speech codec design at UFR de mathématiques et informatique, Université René Descartes, Paris V. From December 1997 to December 2002, she was senior research engineer in Institute of Microelectronics in Singapore. She is currently a Senior Research Fellow in Institute for Inforcomm Research, Singapore.

Her research interests include lossy/lossless speech and audio compression, adaptive filtering, speech/audio processing, recognition and synthesis, voice conversion, and robust wireless multimedia communications. She was one of the contributors for the development of cascaded RLS-LMS predictor adopted as one of two prediction modes for the specification of audio lossless coding (ALS) in MPEG-4 standardization. She has published papers and contributions for journals, conference proceedings and MPEG-4 audio lossless coding.

Dr. Huang is an IEEE senior member, chair person of IEEE Singapore Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group (AG) from Oct. 2005 - March 2008 and IEEE section committee member for year 2006. She is a reviewer of several IEEE journals and conferences, and participates in the program such as session chair, technical program committee of IEEE ICCS 2006 and ACM SIGGRAPH VRCAI 2008.
