Central Georgia IEEE Section SoutheastConfernce07 Trip Report

IEEE SouthEastConference07 Chair Report
WOW !! Myself; Past Chair, Curtis Lee; and Membership Chair, Adam Wofford, attended IEEE SouthEastConference07 at Richmond VA on the 23rd through the 25th March 2007. The opportunity to network, receive IEEE professional training, attend presentations of leading-edge technology papers, and conduct the IEEE section's business were Outstanding. IEEE is the largest professional organization in the world. IEEE has over 380,000 members, in over 150 countries, with over 30 technical societies. IEEE SouthEastConference07 was an opportunity for our region, region 3 to host the conference and provide all of the benefits mentioned, and many others.
We supported the Mercer University in its robotic and software competitions. The Mercer teams did Great, and Mercer came in 4th overall in a field with some really tough competition. Congratulations to the Mercer Robotics Team, who is also presenting their work at our upcoming 23 April/Mon IEEE meeting at Mercer Univiversity, Engineering Department, Room 210 at 6:30 PM. Thanks to Mercer University Student Chair Ginger Rahn for hosting and assisting with the work to set this meeting up.
The 25th Anniversary for the Central GA IEEE Section (That's us). We received a beautiful IEEE 25th Anniversary Banner, on an Oak Pole, to display at our section meetings. I accepted the 25th Anniversary banner for our Section at the awards banquet held on Sat night (the 24th of March). I was honored to accept the banner for All Central GA section members, and would like to Thank and recognize the Hard Work of All who came before us, that enable us to be where we are today. Let us all strive to do Our Best, during Our Watch, as the Others before us have.
Also, we are planning to host a 25th Anniversary Central GA Section party/social--so if you have ideas, please let me hear them.
There are many other really great things to discuss, but in the interest of brevity, I'll keep it short. Suffice it to say, your section's attendance at IEEE SouthEastConference07 was time well spent, and directly enables us to receive the training and support we need to better serve our IEEE membership.
