12th Annual NFIC Conference
August 14th at San Jose State University

New Frontiers in Computing was established to provide an inexpensive one day technical overview of an emerging technology directly affecting the work of the engineering and software communities. Its goal is to give an attendee enough quality information to make practical strategic decisions regarding the technology - in this case, New Directions in Cloud Computing.

Starting with an overview of information components, NFIC moves to a discussion of running the Cloud as a system. With information and systems covered, the concluding topic of the morning session will address how a future Cloud network infrastructure will work.

The afternoon session starts with a presentation on present R&D efforts in Cloud based mobile applications. The three topics that follow - " Scalable Interactive Search", "Extreme Web Data Integration" and "Scalable Information Extraction and Integration" can all be seen as key beneficiaries of ongoing R&D in the mobile application domain.

This year, the Saturday NFIC conference has the honor of being integrated into a three day International Conference on Granular Computing. Because of this the one day NFIC conference is able to provide information of wider technical importance to its attendees.

IEEE Granular Computing and Cloud Computing and the Web

The NFIC Conference is co-sponsored by IEEE Computer Society - Santa Clara Valley Chapter, North America Taiwanese Engineers' Association (NATEA-Silicon Valley Chapter), and IEEE Stanford - Student Chapter. This year's NFIC conference will overlap with IEEE Granular Computing conference and Cloud Computing and the Web conference. Speakers from both conferences will present on August 14th at San Jose State University.

Update: Post Conference
