Conferences

Region 3 Conference Committee Chair

Have you ever thought about having a conference in your section or chapter?

Scary isn’t it!  Love a challenge?  But oh so rewarding!

Your local members (and potential members) could benefit from the knowledge and training that comes with a conference.

Where do you start?  Societies and your region are always looking for future conference locations and topics.  Societies tend to have conference committees already structured and would entertain your bid to host their conference in your section or chapter.  This is where you can provide knowledge and training to local member and future members in their backyards.

You and your team would develop new skills and meet like minded members.

You would work hand-in-hand with their conference committee to provide them with advance local planning and logistics.

Region 3 (your region) annually sponsors SoutheastCon.  You may remember that Jamaica hosted the 2003 SEC.  Future SEC’s will be in Greensboro NC, Ft. Lauderdale FL, and Memphis TN.  Other sections like yours are expressing interest to host a future SEC.

Be bold!  Form a committee and prepare a bid for SEC or other conference.  The learning is intense; the work hard; and the reward priceless.

We can help you.  Email me at d.w.hill@ieee.org to get things started.

I challenge you to make yourself and your section/chapter a better place to learn and expand your horizons.

 Have a great year 2004,
