• Annual IIEE-IEEE Student Multi-Topic Seminar 2001 of IIEE-IEEE Student Branch was held on January 26, 2001, at IIEE. Chief Guest present was Engineer Abul Kalam, Vice Chancellor NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi. Also present at the occasion was Dr. Anwar-ul-Haq, Chairman Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR). The Seminar consisted of two sessions, inaugural session and the technical session.

• Annual Student Project Exhibition 2001 under the banner of IIEE-IEEE Student Branch was also held on January 26, 2001 after the Seminar, in which different projects made by IIEE students were displayed. The Chief Guest, along with the other respectable and honorable guests, inspected the exhibition and praised the hard work done on various projects by the IIEE students.

• Mr. Adeel Ahmed Nafis, Vice-Chairman IIEE-IEEE Student Branch, delivered a series of lectures on "VHDL" in February 2001 at the Institute of Industrial Electronics Engineering (IIEE), Karachi.

• IIEE-IEEE Student Branch Official Website secured Fourth (4th) position in the IEEE Website Competition 2001 for the IEEE Region 10 (Asia Pacific Region).

• The IEEE Karachi Section selected Branch Counselor IIEE-IEEE Student Branch, Mr. Ashab Mirza as the Head of the Web Committee of the Karachi Section.

• Student members of IIEE-IEEE Student Branch have been assigned the task of developing a new website for IEEE Karachi Section, considering their previous performance in this field.

• A logo competition for the design of the logo of IIEE-IEEE Student Branch was held in July 2001. The result of this competition was a beautiful design for the logo of IIEE-IEEE Student Branch, which was designed by Mr. Ismail Sultan.

• Various meetings were held at IIEE-IEEE Student Branch to coordinate the activities of IEEE Karachi Section & IEEE Student Branches for the arrangement of “Technology Extravaganza”, a joint-activity mega event of IEEE Student Paper Conference at the Auditorium of NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi.

• “Technology Extravaganza”, a joint-activity IEEE Student Paper Conference was held on Saturday August 11, 2001 at NED UET, Karachi, with the IIEE-IEEE Student Branch actively coordinating efforts with other IEEE Student Branches to make it a big success. Chief Guest of the occasion was Honorable Engineer Abul Kalam, Vice-Chancellor NED UET. Also present at the occasion were Mr. Salman Ansari, Advisor to Ministry of Science & Technology, Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Head of E-Commerce Working Group, MoST, and Mr. Shahid Suleman Jan, Chairman IEEE Karachi Section.

• Two students of IIEE-IEEE Student Branch, Mr. Ismail Sultan and Mr. Khalil Sultan were selected as recipients in Myron Zucker Travel Program 2001 of IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS). They were invited to attend the 36th Annual Meeting of IEEE Industry Application Society (IAS), which was to be held in Chicago, Illinois, USA from September 30 to October 4, 2001.

• Capt. Dr. Sarfraz Hussain, General Manager Systems Division, Maritime Technology Complex, delivered a lecture on “Indigenous Research & Development in Pakistan” on October 18, 2001 at the Institute of Industrial Electronics Engineering (IIEE), Karachi.

• Ms. Sophia Husnain, MS (DSP) from University of Michigan USA and R & D Head at WaveTech (Pvt.) Ltd., delivered a lecture on “Embedded Systems” on October 20, 2001 at the Institute of Industrial Electronics Engineering (IIEE), Karachi.

• Dr Syed Irfan Hyder, Vice President & Dean Information Sciences, PAF-KIET, delivered a lecture on “Determination Of Impact Factor for Pakistani Research” October 27, 2001 at the Institute of Industrial Electronics Engineering (IIEE), Karachi.

• Annual Luncheon of IEEE Members of the Student Branch alongwith the Activities Calendar Ending Ceremony was held on October 27, 2001 @ IIEE.
