Registration

On-site registration desk will be in the Foyer Area in the San Diego Marriott La Jolla hotel. It will be open with the following schedule. For the person who alreadly registered, please visit the registration desk to pick up your badge and conference proceedings.

Program

The HRI2009 conference program is available.

Workshops and tutorials

Workshops are an opportunity for participants to meet other members of the HRI community, to discuss problems and to present their ideas around a common topic. Two half-day workshops will be held at HRI2009, both on Tuesday, March 10. The two workshops are scheduled in such a way that it is possible to combine them. The submissions will be subjected to a peer review process. There will also be a full-day tutorial, which will run in parallel to the workshops. The participants in a workshop or tutorial are required to register at the conference as well.

Travel Grants

Students may volunteer to help at the conference and in return they might receive a limited amount of travel funding. Please follow the application procedure.

Accommodations

The 4th ACM/IEEE HRI 2009 will be conducted at a very attractive and unique venue. The conferenceMarriot_hotel will be held in the San Diego Marriott La Jolla. The hotel is located in the upscale resort community of La Jolla, otherwise known as the “Jewel of the Pacific” and is only 2 miles away from the beaches of La Jolla, known for their beauty and spectacular sunsets. La Jolla offers a shopper’s paradise of unique boutiques, art galleries, and some of the most outstanding dining.

Furthermore, the hotel is one mile away from the Stephen Birch Aquarium and Museum, the largest oceanographic museum in the country and 15 minutes away from Sea World, the world-famous marine park also known as the home of Shamu and friends, San Diego Zoo, the world famous Zoo with the largest and most rare collections of animals, and Balboa Park, the nation’s largest urban cultural park, home to 15 major museums.

The weather in Southern California remains temperate throughout the year, in March the average temperature is 65 degrees.

Attendees who register for ACM/IEEE HRI 2009 will be offered a standard room at the discounted rate of $169 per night single/double, as arranged via ACM. This rate will be available one day before the Conference so that there will be time to have your family enjoy the La Jolla and San Diego experience. Please refer to the hotel website for more information about the location and amenities. Hotel registration will be made directly with the hotel. (Hotel discount was only available by mid Feburary)

Travel Information

Travel to La Jolla: La Jolla is situated a short distance north of San Diego and is easily accessible by the San Diego International airport.

Driving Directions: North on I-5. Exit La Jolla Village Drive turns right toward East. Turn left on Regents Road and immediately turns right to Regent Park Row. Hotel driveway is on the right hand side.
