A Brief Emerging Tecnologies Overview

Substations

TechnologiesGas-Insulated Transmission Lines (GIL).

DescriptionGas-Insulated Transmission Lines (GIL) (e.g. gas mixture of nitrogen and SF6) for the 245 kV to 550 kV range ensure high transmission capacity, much better electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) than any other transmission system and flexible installation options - above ground, in tunnels, or buried into the soil. Future trends: off-shore wind parks with high power connection to the transmission grid; for rail and road transportation tunnels.
