For
35 years, Dan Smith has been involved in the development, testing,
evaluation and implementation of security technologies. His primary
assignments involved nuclear security positions in the U.S. Nuclear
Regulatory Commission and the U.S. Department of Energy, including
an overseas assignment with the United Nation's International Atomic
Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria. For 16 of his years with the U.S.
government, Dan was also an interagency participant, Chairman and
subsequently a Senior Program Manager in the U.S. counterterrorism
community's Technical Support Working Group (TSWG), developing security-related
anti-terrorism technologies. The TSWG is administered by the U.S.
Department of Defense's Combating Terrorism Technology Support Office.
Dan retired from the U.S. government in May 2007 and is currently
supporting the Department of Defense's Physical Security Equipment
Action Group, as senior security consultant with L-3 Communications.
Dan won the Carnahan
Cup in 2002.
