Introduction
The IEEE Science Symposium is an annual event organized by the IEEE NTU Student Branch. The event has been held successfully since 2004, attracting participants from institutions across the island. Science Symposium 2006 aims to encourage creativity and foster the spirit of innovation in pre-university and university students. Conducted in two phases, it works to test the knowledge and research of the participants through the research papers submitted during the first phase and their presentation skills during the last and final phase.
Theme:
The theme for Science Symposium 2006 is “Your Idea, Our Platform… Let’s Redesign The World”.
Structure:
The symposium will be held over a period of four months in 3 stages.
The first stage comprises of a boot camp to be held on 18 th February 2006.The Boot Camp introduces the participants to new ideas based on which they may develop their research papers. It also provides an opportunity to pre university students to interact with university professors and other people of influence.
The participants are given a month’s time to come up with their research papers. The research papers are going to be tested on a variety of criterions. The deadline for submission of these is 25 th March 2006.
The final stage of the event is an exhibition/presentation where the participants present their ideas to the judges. This gives the students an opportunity to showcase their ideas in the form of practical solutions.
