Bio: Dr. Huang is the currently the Progress Energy Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering. He is the director of Semiconductor Power Electronics Center (SPEC) and Advanced Transportation Energy Center (ATEC), as well as the director of the newly established NSF Engineering Research Center, The FREEDM Systems Center. Dr. Huang is a fellow of IEEE. He was previously a professor at Virginia Tech's Center for Power Electronics System (CPES) from 1994 to 2004. He joined NCSU in 2004 and was the Alcoa Professor from 2004 to 2007. FREEDM Systems Center seeks to develop revolutionary power grid suitable for massive deployment of distributed renewable energy resources and energy storage devices.
