U.S. House of Representatives Celebrate IEEE Engineering the Future Day
The IEEE staff celebration held at the Operations Center was only one of numerous events that took place around the world on 13 May to commemorate IEEE’s 125th Anniversary. In addition to activities held by local IEEE Sections and other groups, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution supporting the goals and ideals of “IEEE Engineering the Future Day.”

The resolution was introduced by Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.). Bart Gordon (D-Tenn.), chairman of the House Science and Technology Committee, was the lead cosponsor. Stearns was an IEEE student member while earning his degree in electrical engineering from George Washington University. Read the full story.

Read the resolution or watch related videos on C-SPAN’S Web site.

IEEE Globalization of Professional Activities
IEEE has created a group of representatives from all over the world to (1) inventory and assess the current state of Professional Activities within IEEE, (2) compile data on member interests and preferences related to Professional Activities, their management and financing, and (3) develop a strategic plan to assist all regions in developing Professional Activities tailored to their specific needs and the interests of their local members.

This group is working to fulfill the IEEE Constitutional obligations to address the professional needs of all members, regardless of geographic location. During the fact-finding process IEEE-USA will provide all IEEE members with the opportunity to download four e-Books (normally $4.95 each) for free and access to archived webinars on a variety of topics.

Take advantage of the free professional activities resources that are available as a benefit to all IEEE members.
