IEEE-USA's 2021 CVD is on, Virtually!   IEEE-USA will be hosting its annual Congressional Visits Day starting on March 29th. As always, the CVD will give you a chance to discuss issues of importance to IEEE members with your elected leaders. This year's event will be virtual. Space Radiation Effects—Modeling The Environment For Systems Analysis   This is a joint IEEE Boston, Providence, New Hampshire Reliability Chapters event. This talk will present space environment and its many natural hazards, one of which is a harsh radiation environment. es[ecially to vulnerability of decreased dimensions of FPGAs. JMP Reliability Platforms – A Zoom In Then Zoom Out Introduction   In this joint event of IEEE Boston and NH sections, Dr. Peng Liu of SAS Institute, Inc. provide an introduction to JMP, a comprehensive suite of tools for reliability data analysis and reliability engineering. This will include live demonstrations of key applications. Calling For Judges! Volunteer for NNE Invention Convention In a year full of innovation, the Young Inventors’ Program (YIP) continues to lead the way to engage students in hands-on learning within shifts to remote and hybrid school models. Our students are developing essential critical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as learning about invention design and entrepreneurship. The VIRTUAL 2021 New England Invention Convention will run throughout the month of April, and will recognize 300 of the top inventors from YIP and honor them with awards and the opportunity to advance to the Invention Convention US Nationals. Report on IEEE Milestone Project: BASIC The IEEE Milestones Project honored the contribution of BASIC language to Advancement of Computing, by installing a Commeorative Plaque at Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire, where the innovation happened led by Professors Dr. John Kemeny and Dr.Thomas Kurtz . It was a quite ceremony in deference to Covid-19 circumstances. Watch for the announcement for the full Social Celebration that is is planned for later in the year. IEEE NH 2020 Pre-University Grant Read the full report from Ayse, Chair Educational Activities. IEEE NH 2020 Pre-University Grant was awarded to Emily Wilson and Jean Scanlan of Maple Wood Elementary School in Somerswoth NH. This grant will help them to purchase a set of Ozobots.
IEEE NH Tech Policy Topics Discussion Group and Events IEEE-USA develops positions related to US policy activities. This includes areas such as privacy, cybersecurity, spectrum allocation, Artificial Intelligence, intellectual property, work force issues. See the full range at: IEEE USA New areas are emerging such as Broadband deployment and access; regulation of high tech, issues surrounding social media such as addiction, collection and use of personal data, application of behaviour science and perhaps AI to persuade individuals into target actions. If topics like these interest you, please join the online group where we will be both announcing related activities, listing relevant resources and carrying on NH based discussions. Events related to this activity are planned for later this year.
