IEEE is celebrating 125 years of Engineering the Future. IEEE Region 1
southern area, the New Jersey and New York chapters invited members and
non-members to Engineer Their Future through a one day event where
participants were given opportunities to network among themselves,
enjoy technical tutorials, and listen to CTOs and university professors
describe how Communications and Green Technologies are changing the way
business is being done.
The event was FREE to IEEE members. Fees were minimal for non
members - the cost of covering meals, and the fees could be applied against new
memberships. This high value event was a great opportunity for every IEEE
members to enroll other new members since IEEE organization provides
financial incentives this year to the recruiting IEEE member for each and
every new members that are enrolled.
Among the speakers were the CTOs of Telus, Telcordia, Triveni
Digital, VPs from IBM Research, Avaya Strategy and Technology, Technology
director of CERDEC. The chair of Computer Science at Columbia and the head of
the wireless networking research lab at Rutgers also were featured speakers.
Other talks included topics such as wireless in
the MTA, Green Technologies, Next Generation Networks.
Honorable Deputy Speaker of NJ Assembly and Chair of Telecommunication &
Utilities committee who is an engineer by training and a former employee of
Bell Laboratories spoke as well.
