Abstract:
This presentation is an overview of UMTS/3G/HSDPA Packet data network
architecture, network elements and protocol operation. The focus is on
Architecture Components, their roles and interfaces for delivering data
services, and less on MAC & Radio Link Layers. Control Plane &
User Plane Protocol layers within the Network Elements such as Base Station,
RNC, SGSN, GGSN, in delivering data services are covered. Protocol
interaction between the Network elements is exemplified by walking through a
User Equipment (UE) initiated internet access operation.
