A Joint Chapter of IEEE Antennas and Propagation (AP) and IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques (MTT) Societies was formed under IEEE Calcutta Section by the end of 2003 and this was formally announced in the Section's Annual General Meeting held in January 2004. It is going to complete a glorious journey of the first decade and has marked AP and MTT activities in India to a very high level. Its first remarkable attempt was to introduce a biennial IEEE Conference on Applied Electromagnetics (AEMC) in India in 2007 to create an International forum for microwave professionals. Its 5th edition is due in December 2015 to be held at IIT Guwahati. The second attempt was to introduce Indian antenna Week (IAW), an annual workshop to provide high quality training and education to young antenna engineers, researchers, and students in India. IEEE AP-S had extended tremendous support to IAW and its 6th edition is due in summer 2015. The AP-MTT Kolkata Chapter, through its top class activities and efforts over last few years, had won 2014 Best Chapter Award of IEEE AP-Society (given in the Award Banquet at Memphis, July 2014) and 2013 Outstanding Chapter Recognition of IEEE MTT- Society in Region-10.
