On 2nd and 3rd March 2012 the 2nd National Conference on Computational Intelligence and Signal Processing (CISP2012) organized by Assam Don Bosco University was held at Don Bosco College of Engineering and Technology, Guwahati. The conference was technically sponsored by IEEE Calcutta Section and supported by AICTE.
The objective of the conference was to create awareness about the developments in the interdisciplinary field that combines signal processing with computational technologies and promote research and developmental activities for real life applications. This objective was neatly taken care in this conference as CISP2012 brought together industry professionals, researchers and academicians together who presented their findings and had given intellectual deliberations on emerging technologies.

The first day began with two sessions back-to-back presided over by Dr. S. B. Nair, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Guwahati and assisted by his team of students. Speaking on the topic "Bio-inspired Artificial Intelligence".
The second segment of the Tutorial Session saw school students from eight different schools attending the interactive talk with Dr. Nair and his team. The students were greatly intrigued by the motor robots which performed various activities responding sound, light and touch. This Interactive Session with students was sponsored by the State Council of Science, Technology and Engineering, Government of Meghalaya.

The National Conference on Computing and Communication Systems 2012 (NCCCS-2012) was a comprehensive conference focused on the various aspects of advances in Computing and Communication Systems. Report on ICPEN-2012 '1st International Conference on Power and Energy in NERIST-2012' organized by NERIST in technical co-sponsorship from IEEE Kolkata section, Kolkata Chapters of DEIS and PES and financial co-sponsorship from NEC, CSIR, PGCIL and Schneider Electric Corporation. It was the first IEEE sponsored conference in NERIST and Arunachal Pradesh. Through this conference the organizers aimed to provide a platform to share ideas in areas related to theory, development, applications, and evaluation in the field of power systems, high voltage, energy and industry applications. Highlights of the conference were Keynote Address on 'Solar Photovoltaics: An Overview' and invited lecture on 'Ethical Issues for Science and Technology' both by Padmashree Prof K L Chopra. IEEE Distinguished lectures were organized in the conference as follows: 'Energy Supply for Future' by Dr. Hermann Koch, IEEE Fellow and PES DL from Siemens, Germany and 'Multiphysics Modeling of Streamer Discharges in Transformer Oil-Pressboard Systems' by Prof Markus Zahn, IEEE Fellow and DEIS DL from MIT, USA. Special invited lectures were given on 'Gas Insulated Transmission Line' by Prof. Sivaji Chakravorti, Chairman IEEE Kolkata Section and PES Distinguished Lecturer and '1200 kV UHV Transmission Line in India' by Mr. Akhil Sundaram, PGCIL.

One hundred seven papers from leading institutions and organizations in India and abroad were submitted, which were reviewed by experts from reputed institutes and industries all over the world. Sixty five papers were finally accepted by the Technical Committee, out of which forty five papers will be uploaded to IEEEXplore. The papers were presented in four technical sessions related to energy, high voltage, power system and industry applications chaired by Dr. Hermann Koch, Prof Markus Zahn, Prof. Sivaji Chakravorti and Prof. K. L. Chopra, respectively. Fifty one registered authors and participants attended the conference.
