The IEEE WIE Affinity Group of Kharagpur Section (IEEE WIE AG KGP) successfully organized Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Program in Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 Kharagpur. The mission the program is to improve the perception of the field of engineering, continue to attract more girls to the pursue an engineering career, as well as promote to all students the endless possibilities that can result from considering engineering as a possible career option. We decided upon interacting with the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya. The program started with an introduction to IEEE, WIE and STAR and included an interactive session on introduction to engineering and its various disciplines, available career opportunities and different entrance examinations for entry into engineering to show the real glimpse of engineering to the coming generation. The concluding part consisted an interactive quiz session with WIE goodies for winners. The flow of the program was designed to include an interactive session on Engineering and its Branches, a detailed discussion on Career Opportunities, an insight into Entrance Examinations and a round of technical Quiz session. The excitement among the students, their active participation in the interactive sessions and their promptness in answering questions motivate us to keep conducting STAR and cover every nearby schools.
