Topic: Centre County 911 Network
Guest Speaker: Mr. Daniel Tancibok, Director, Centre County Department
of 911/Emergency Communications
Location: Centre County 911 is in the Centre County Willowbank Office
Building, 420 Holmes St., Bellefonte. Parking is in the upper
lot. Enter through the main entrance and go straight across the
lobby to the Commissioners Meeting Room.
Topic Abstract
Mr. Tancibok will present an overview of how 911 operates in Centre
County, and provide a technical description of the systems used to
accept and process 911 calls, use Computer Aided Dispatch to
determine the appropriate response, and dispatch the call over the
County radio network. Mr. Tancibok will then answer questions about
operations and technology, and provide a tour of the 911 Center.
About Centre County 911 / Emergency Communications
The 911 Center handles all incoming 9-1-1 calls in Centre County and
dispatches the appropriate Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical
Services. We also coordinate all addressing in the county with the
local municipalities and the Post Office.
In 2005 Centre County 9-1-1 / Emergency Communications Center handled
over 43,000 9-1-1 phone calls, more than 113,000 non emergency phone
calls and over 75,000 incidents. We dispatch for 5 Police
departments, 20 fire departments, 14 ambulance services, 1 Hazardous
Materials Team, and 12 other county agencies.
Centre County Department of Public Safety has a staff comprised of
Director, Assistant Director, 26 Public Safety Telecommunicators, 3
mapping and addressing specialists, and an administrative support
person.
Guest Speaker Bio
Mr. Daniel Tancibok is the Director of Centre County Department of
911/Emergency Communications. He has 28 years in 911 and Emergency
Communications, 15 years as a Telecommunicator / Senior
Telecommunicator, 4 years as Assistant Director, and 9 Years as
Director. Prior to this, Mr. Tancibok had 15 years experience in the
Fire Service and is a State Certified Emergency Medical Technician
with 8 years experience in Emergency Medical Services.
Mr. Tancibok is an active member of both the National Emergency
Number Association (NENA) and the Association of Public Safety
Communications Officials (APCO). He is currently serving as the Vice
President of the Pennsylvania Chapter of NENA. He is certified as an
Emergency Number Professional (ENP) by NENA. Mr. Tancibok is Married,
with two sons, and a resident of State College.
